RCL FOODS is recruiting for a driven, highly energized and customer-focused Feeder Driver within its Baking Business Unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for loading, offloading and transporting bread, crates and confectionery between the bakery and depot. The position is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, and reports to the Distribution Manager.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• Valid Code 14 / EC Driver’s Licence
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
• At least 3 years’ Code 14 driving experience
• Drawbar experience

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle & Driver Duties

• Maintain a clean vehicle and uphold required hygiene standards.
• Keep the driving compartment clean and safe in line with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Complete the company vehicle checklist and record any faults.
• Report serious vehicle faults immediately and arrange for the vehicle to be sent to the workshop.
• Comply with statutory road rules and safety requirements.
• Immediately report theft, vehicle/equipment damage, third-party damage, accidents and hijackings to the relevant supervisor or Fleet Controller.

Stock & Loading

• Check that vehicles are safely loaded to prevent road-safety risks and product damage.
• Assist with loading and offloading.

Van Assistants

• Ensure the van assistant is present for duty and report any absence.
• Report performance issues involving the van assistant to the supervisor.

Deliveries

• Collect returns and crates from depots.
• Transport products, personnel, materials and equipment between the bakery and depot.
• Perform crate recovery duties when required.

Transactional Duties

Accurately complete and handle relevant documentation, including:

• Invoices
• Delivery notes
• Loading schedules
• Crate-control documents
• Vehicle log sheets
• Petrol slips
• Vehicle checklists
• Other related forms

General Duties

• Assist with other driver-related duties when not performing depot functions.
• Take the necessary precautions to protect company property.
