About Discovery

Discovery is looking for a Senior Administrator to join its Corporate and Employee Benefits business. The role forms part of the Retirement Funds business unit and focuses on the effective administration and management of Retirement Fund operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Retirement Fund administration activities while ensuring that processes are accurate, efficient and compliant with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage adherence to Service Level Agreements and operational procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day administration within the Retirement Funds business unit.
  • Oversee scheme installations, monthly contribution reconciliation, investment options, special rule registrations, renewals, amendments and enhancements.
  • Manage Section 13A non-compliance letters and calculations.
  • Oversee Default Regulation, T-day and new member processes.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with the Pension Funds Act, Tax Act, fund rules and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure contribution and billing processes are accurate and compliant.
  • Monitor data completeness and data quality.
  • Train and guide staff on relevant processes and systems.
  • Assist with audits and respond to audit queries.
  • Optimise productivity levels and improve operational processes.
  • Handle escalated calls and queries from internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients and internal and external brokers.
  • Manage projects and contribute to change management initiatives.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in assigned Retirement Fund areas.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and develop solutions to operational challenges.
  • Review and improve existing processes and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • NQF Level 5 equivalent qualification.
  • 3–5 years’ operational leadership and management experience — essential.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in Umbrella Retirement Funds contribution/billing processes — essential.
  • Experience with Section 13A, Default Regulations and T-day processes.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in the employee benefits industry.
  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in a senior role.
  • Advanced MS Office and Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting, investments, people management and operational processes.
  • Knowledge of process mapping and Retirement Fund/Umbrella Fund operations.
  • Knowledge of the legislative and compliance requirements relating to employee benefits, FAIS and Umbrella Funds.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • NQF Level 6 qualification.
  • BCom degree or similar qualification.
  • Relevant industry qualifications, such as Wealth Management or Introduction to Retirement Funds.
