Job Overview

ER24 Highveld is looking for an Operational Basic Ambulance Assistant to join its emergency medical services team in Trichardt.

The successful candidate will respond to emergency calls and provide basic medical care to patients in accordance with their scope of practice, applicable clinical guidelines and ER24 procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Ensuring operational readiness for emergency calls.
• Responding to emergency incidents and attending to patients.
• Providing basic medical care within the approved scope of practice.
• Completing and maintaining accurate Patient Report Forms.
• Applying appropriate emergency medical procedures and best practices.
• Maintaining knowledge of relevant routes, facilities and the local demographic area.
• Supporting a professional and positive public image of ER24.
• Working in accordance with HPCSA guidelines and applicable EMS requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA) Certificate is essential.
• Completion of training related to the Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) will be advantageous.

Applicants who are not compliant with the applicable clinical practice guidelines at the time of application may be required to complete the relevant training during their probation period if appointed.

Experience:

• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year road-based BLS experience.
• 2 years of road BLS experience will be advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge

Applicants should have knowledge or understanding of:

• EMS operations and the emergency medical services environment.
• HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
• Patient care and best-practice procedures.
• Patient Report Forms.
• Local facilities, travel routes and the surrounding demographic area.
• Written and verbal English communication.
