Job Overview

Mediclinic Victoria is inviting applications for a Porter position in Tongaat, South Africa. The successful candidate will assist with daily hospital operations by safely transporting and escorting patients, equipment, medical files and other items between hospital departments.

The role requires good communication skills, a commitment to patient safety and the ability to provide professional service to patients and members of the public.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Grade 10 qualification.
• Previous experience in client services or dealing with the public.
• Valid driver’s licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Proficiency in English, including reading, speaking and writing.
• Knowledge of patient rights and confidentiality.
• Understanding of patient handling principles and hospital safety procedures.
• Knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with two-way radio systems and administrative tasks.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and medico-legal risks.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Transporting and escorting patients safely to designated locations.
• Moving equipment, files and other items between hospital departments.
• Assisting with patient evacuations during emergencies.
• Performing driving duties when requested and in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Protecting patient rights and maintaining confidentiality.
