Job Overview

Maersk is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to oversee inventory management and warehouse execution standards in its Durban operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily inventory operations, including receiving, storage and dispatch.
• Maintain accurate stock records and reconcile inventory data.

• Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
• Monitor stock levels, overstocking and out-of-stock risks.
• Enforce FIFO procedures and manage batch control and obsolete stock.
• Ensure alignment between the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and customer ERP systems.
• Coordinate warehouse storage, space utilisation and stock inspections.
• Generate inventory reports and monitor key performance indicators.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, security and environmental requirements.
• Lead, train and support inventory control staff.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

• At least five years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a multi-principal warehouse environment.
• A diploma in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of inventory management regulations, standards and best practices.
