About the Transnet WIL Programme

Transnet Property is inviting applications for its Work Integrated Technical Learner – Plumbers programme in Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Durban.

The programme is aimed at recently qualified apprentices who have obtained a Plumbers Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) and need practical workplace experience.

The 24-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme provides participants with an opportunity to apply their technical and vocational knowledge in a real-world working environment.

Successful candidates will receive practical exposure, mentorship and experience with industry-specific plumbing and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Work Integrated Technical Learner – Plumber, you will be expected to:

• Perform routine plumbing maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing-related issues.
• Follow applicable health and safety requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Record and document work completed.
• Report work activities and issues to supervisors.
• Apply technical knowledge in a practical workplace environment.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Plumbers Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal).
• Must have been trade tested within the past 4 years.
• Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
• Must have less than 1 year of experience.
• Must be a South African citizen.

Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate an appropriate level of technical competence, including:

Beginner

• Basic understanding of plumbing tools.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures.

• Hygiene Technician x3 (FTC) – Anglo American
• Nedbank Client Advisor – Multiple Positions
• Print Room Operator (Production) – Lancet Laboratories
• Cashier: Station Fare Collection – IRPTN

Intermediate

• Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Advanced

• Ability to demonstrate strong technical skills and potentially supervise or train others.

Programme Details

The Work Integrated Learning programme is designed to help recently qualified apprentices gain valuable workplace exposure and develop their practical skills.

The programme runs for 24 months and provides participants with hands-on experience, mentorship and exposure to workplace tasks within Transnet Property.
