About the Position
Absa Bank is recruiting a Trust Administrator to administer legal claims trusts, including Medical Negligence and Road Accident Fund (RAF) trusts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for administering trust assets, supporting beneficiaries and trustees, managing investments, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining accurate financial and trust records.
Key Responsibilities
The Trust Administrator will be responsible for:
- Administering trusts according to trust deeds, legislation, policies and procedures.
- Managing and protecting trust assets, including property and related matters.
- Processing beneficiary requests, allowances and payments.
- Managing trust terminations and distributions to beneficiaries.
- Maintaining trust documentation, correspondence and records.
- Acting as a key contact for beneficiaries, trustees and other stakeholders.
- Providing updates on trust performance, investments and payments.
- Preparing investment proposals and reviewing trust investment portfolios.
- Monitoring risk reports, reconciliations, overdrafts and uninvested funds.
- Ensuring compliance with fiduciary legislation, governance requirements and AML regulations.
- Reviewing annual trust financial statements and beneficiary statements.
- Managing SARS registrations and trust tax compliance.
- Submitting annual and provisional trust tax returns through SARS eFiling.
- Reviewing tax assessments and arranging tax payments where required.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have one of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (NQF Level 6); or
- Estate and Trust Diploma; or
- Certificate in Deceased Estates Administration; or
- Advanced Estate and Trust Diploma.

Experience Required
Essential:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a fiduciary environment as a Trust Officer or Estate Administrator.
Preferred:
- 3 years’ experience in trust administration or fiduciary services.
Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should have:
- Strong knowledge of trusts, fiduciary services and relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of trust taxation and SARS compliance.
- Investment administration and portfolio review skills.
- Client relationship management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with trust administration systems.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
