Main Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of the position is to attend to site-based emergency calls and provide medical care in line with the prescribed scope of practice.

Appointment to the position is subject to the successful completion of physical fitness and medical assessments.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed candidates will be responsible for:

• Ensuring operational readiness for emergency calls.
• Administering patient care in accordance with the applicable scope of practice.
• Providing professional emergency services to site-based clients.

Minimum Education Requirements

Essential Education

Applicants must have:

• Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate

Desired Education

Successful completion of training related to the Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) will be advantageous.

Applicants who are not compliant with the applicable clinical practice guidelines at the time of application may be required to complete the relevant training during their probation period if successfully appointed.

Required Experience

Essential Experience

• 6 months to 1 year of road BLS experience

Desired Experience

• 2 years of road BLS experience

• Admin Tourism Service Excellence Ambassador
• Hygiene Technician x3 (FTC) – Anglo American
• Nedbank Client Advisor – Multiple Positions
• Print Room Operator (Production) – Lancet Laboratories
• Cashier: Station Fare Collection – IRPTN

Required Skills and Knowledge

Applicants should have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

• Facilities, travel routes and the demographic area.
• HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
• Application of best practices.
• Emergency Medical Services (EMS) environment.
• Written and verbal English communication.
• Completion and handling of Patient Report Forms.
