Job Overview

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is inviting applications for a Donation Testing Technologist on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will perform routine laboratory testing in the Donation Testing Department, rotating between Virology, Blood Grouping and Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) sections.

The role also involves maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring quality standards and providing technical support when required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• HPCSA registration as a Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion).
• At least 1 year of Blood Transfusion experience.
• Good laboratory and blood grouping skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ethical conduct.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Job-Specific Requirements

• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Availability for weekend duties.
• Willingness to work shifts, including night shifts, according to the roster.
• Must have own transport.
• Detail-conscious with proficient eyesight.
