Department of Health Financial Clerk (Revenue Department) – Edenvale
The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for 2 Financial Clerk positions within the Revenue Department at Edenvale Regional Hospital.
The successful candidates will provide financial and administrative support related to patient accounts, revenue collection, cashiering, outstanding debts and stakeholder queries. Applicants must have Grade 12 and at least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital environment.

Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- At least 2 years’ experience appointed in a clinical or hospital environment.
- Computer literacy.
- Knowledge of the legislative and policy framework relevant to the position.
- Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of customer care and Batho Pele principles.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to work shifts, including Sundays, public holidays and night shifts.
- Willingness to rotate between administration areas and within the Finance Department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The appointed Financial Clerks will be responsible for a range of revenue and administrative functions, including:
- Raising and processing patient invoices.
- Processing patient accounts and related revenue transactions.
- Working with ICD-10 codes and accounts relating to IOD, RAF, Defence, SAPS and Correctional Services.
- Following up on outstanding debts.
- Processing the write-off of long-outstanding and untraceable debts.
- Submitting patient accounts to relevant stakeholders.
- Performing cashier and sub-cashier duties.
- Processing daily financial transactions.
- Following up on stakeholder queries.
- Maintaining an effective filing system.
- Performing general office and administrative duties.
- Rotating within the Finance Department as required.
- Carrying out other duties delegated by the Supervisor or Manager within the scope of the position.
Shift Requirements
The successful applicants must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, Sundays, public holidays and night shifts when required.
