About the Learnership

The programme combines formal learning with practical workplace experience, giving successful learners exposure to the Financial Services industry.

Learners will gain exposure to areas within Discovery Health’s long-term insurance business, including:

• Client servicing
• Claims
• Business initiatives
• Compliance
• Medical aid client servicing
• New business
• Health benefits administration

Successful candidates will also be expected to service stakeholders through telephone and other approved service channels, resolve customer queries and provide a customer-focused service.

Learners will need to keep up to date with product changes and digital servicing tools while meeting key service and performance requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful learners may be responsible for:

• Servicing members and other key stakeholders until queries are resolved.
• Providing customer-centric service in line with Discovery’s service principles.
• Keeping up to date with product and process changes.
• Understanding and using digital servicing tools effectively.
• Handling customer queries relating to medical aid and health benefits.
• Supporting claims, new business and client servicing processes.
• Meeting or exceeding applicable service delivery performance targets.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric is essential.
• Mathematics: Minimum Level 4 (50%)
• English: Minimum Level 4 (50%)
• Mathematical Literacy: Minimum Level 5 (60%)
• Second language: Minimum Level 4 (50%)
• An incomplete tertiary qualification may be an advantage.
• Must be between 18 and 25 years old.
• Must have effective written and verbal English communication skills.
• Basic computer skills are required, particularly MS Excel and MS Outlook.

Specific Requirements

Applicants must:

• Not currently be engaged in post-Matric studies.
• Not have a completed tertiary qualification.
• Not have formal employment experience.
• Part-time informal work experience is advantageous.
• Not have completed a previous learnership.
• Be willing to participate in the structured learning and workplace experience components of the programme.
