About the Technical Assistant Role

The successful candidate will assist with the maintenance of hospital buildings and equipment while helping ensure that technical assets are maintained in their original condition.

The role involves carrying out technical tasks within the hospital locality, identifying and managing risks in the technical environment, completing administrative duties within the Technical Department, and supporting good relationships with stakeholders and clients.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Assistant will be responsible for:

• Performing technical jobs within the locality.
• Assisting with maintenance of buildings and equipment.
• Identifying and controlling risks within the technical environment.
• Supporting compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Performing office administration duties within the Technical Department.
• Supporting planned maintenance activities.
• Assisting with general equipment repairs.
• Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
• Providing effective client service within the Technical Department.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Essential:

• Grade 10 or an equivalent technical vocational qualification.

Advantageous:

• Grade 12.

Experience

Essential:

• No previous work experience is required.
• Candidates must have a suitable technical aptitude.

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year of experience in general building maintenance.

Additional Requirements

A Code B driver’s licence would be advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge

Applicants should have:

• Knowledge of general building maintenance issues.
• Knowledge of occupational safety, health and environmental requirements.
• Understanding of OHS and ISO-related requirements.
• Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of planned maintenance systems.
• Knowledge and practical skills relating to general equipment repairs.
• Good stakeholder and client-service skills.
