Purpose of the Job
- Manage all allocated High Court matters within the RAF.
- Provide litigation services and legal advice.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.
- Perform taxation-related services, including tax bills of costs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable South African laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Research and prepare litigation matters for trial.
- Consult with client departments, representatives and witnesses.
- Draft pleadings and other legal documents.
- Manage and participate in mediation processes.
- Represent the RAF in third-party claims and related litigation.
- Attend court appearances, tribunals, mediation hearings and inquiries.
- Manage legal files from opening through to conclusion.
- Approve instructions for expert witnesses and assessors.
- Assess files early and recommend appropriate settlements.
- Provide legal advice on contracts and other legal matters.
- Prepare legal opinions and conduct legal research.
- Provide taxation services in accordance with applicable laws.
- Prepare reports, briefings, presentations and other documentation.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent.
- Postgraduate qualification in Law or equivalent.
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court.
- Right of Appearance in the High Court.
- 5–7 years of relevant legal experience after graduation or admission.
- At least 2 years of experience in the relevant area of expertise.
- Experience in Personal Injury Litigation is required.
